Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete
39,00 €
Francois Demachy’s discontinued 2013 daytime Hypnotic flanker. Sicilian mandarin, Calabrian bergamot over jasmine sambac and Tunisian neroli, on a vanilla musk base. Rebuilt at 40 percent oil.
The Discontinued Citrus Hypnotic, 2013
Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete arrived in 2013, composed by Francois Demachy as the lightest and brightest interpretation of the Hypnotic Poison line. The brief was the addictive vanilla character of the original wrapped in a shimmering veil of citrus and delicate white florals: Sicilian mandarin, Calabrian bergamot and orange at the opening, jasmine sambac and Tunisian neroli at the heart, and a quiet vanilla base. Where the original Hypnotic Poison reads dark and sensual, Eau Secrete reads daytime sunlit and delicately seductive. Dior retired the fragrance from production some years ago, and original bottles now sell at significant premiums on resale platforms. Our interpretation brings the composition back at proper concentration.
How It Smells
The opening sparkles with citrus brightness, Sicilian mandarin leading with Calabrian bergamot and orange adding juicy candied lift that distinguishes Eau Secrete from every other Hypnotic Poison variant. Within fifteen minutes the floral heart appears: jasmine sambac takes a leading role with its creamy slightly indolic character, Tunisian neroli adds a soft floral citrus support, and a quiet white floral nuance threads through the middle. The base is where Eau Secrete reveals its Hypnotic Poison lineage. Vanilla provides warm gourmand depth, white musk smooths the drydown, and a quiet woody character grounds the composition. The overall impression is sunlit floral with a familiar Hypnotic Poison thread underneath, more daytime than the original, completely different in mood from the dark sensual parent.
The Notes
Top: Sicilian mandarin, Calabrian bergamot, orange.
Heart: jasmine sambac, Tunisian neroli.
Base: vanilla, white musk, woody notes.
How Our Version Compares
With the original out of production, finding Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete has become a hunt through resale platforms where prices climb steadily and freshness varies. Our European Union production at 40 percent perfume oil concentration brings the composition back at proper density. The mandarin bergamot opening sparkles cleanly, the jasmine sambac neroli heart holds through the wearing, and the vanilla musk drydown lasts well into the next day on clothing.
Common Questions
Is the original really discontinued?
Yes. Dior pulled Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete from production some years ago, and existing retail stock has long since sold through. Resale prices have climbed considerably for sealed bottles, and freshness varies considerably depending on the source.
How does it compare to the original Hypnotic Poison?
Almost no resemblance at the opening, distantly related at the drydown. Original Hypnotic Poison is dark, almond-vanilla forward, and confidently evening. Eau Secrete is bright, citrus-floral forward, and unmistakably daytime. They share a name and a vanilla base note but occupy different perfume territories.
How does it compare to Eau Sensuelle?
Eau Sensuelle is the warmer, creamier, orange-blossom-led flanker. Eau Secrete is the brighter, more citrus-forward flanker. Both are now discontinued; both occupy different positions within the Hypnotic Poison family.
What season is best?
Spring and summer especially, when the citrus jasmine sambac character reads at its brightest. It performs well year round but the warmer half of the calendar suits it most naturally.
How long does it last?
Six to nine hours at our concentration, with the vanilla musk woody drydown lingering on clothing significantly longer. The 40 percent oil approach extends the citrus floral opening considerably beyond the original eau de toilette format.
