Le Male Elixir, inspired by Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Elixir (2023)

The first spray is cool and herbal, mint over a large dose of lavender. That freshness fades fairly quickly as benzoin, a balsamic resin with a vanilla-like sweetness, and vanilla itself take over. Tonka bean leads the drydown, and the launch notes list honey and tobacco alongside it, though at least one reviewer finds those two more of a shading than a clear note.

About the original

Jean Paul Gaultier released Le Male Elixir in May 2023 at Parfum concentration, presenting the sailor torso in gilded glass with bronze stripes. The brand rates it 4 out of 5 for intensity. Le Male Elixir Absolu, a Parfum Intense from 2025, is a separate fragrance.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Jean Paul Gaultier stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Men who already reach for vanilla and amber in winter will find it familiar territory. It is dense and sweet, at its best on cold evenings, and too rich for anyone wanting something light for a summer office.

Mint opens it, quickly joined by lavender, the clearest link to the rest of the Le Male line.

Benzoin and vanilla form the heart, giving a resinous, balsamic body that grows denser as it settles.

The base centres on tonka bean, with the honey and tobacco from the launch pyramid adding a darker, golden tone.

This page is Le Male Elixir, the 2023 Parfum. Elixir Absolu (2025) is a separate Parfum Intense version.

How does it compare with Le Male Le Parfum?

Le Male Le Parfum (2020) leans on cardamom, iris and vanilla and feels more powdery. The Elixir is sweeter and more resinous, built on benzoin, tonka and honey. We make both.

Does Le Male Elixir smell of tobacco?

Tobacco is listed in the launch notes, but at least one reviewer finds it stays in the background. Tonka, vanilla and lavender are the main notes.
