Souffle de Soie arrived in 2018 as Francois Demachy’s addition to La Collection Privée, with a name translating roughly to “silk breath” or “silk whisper.” The brief was a soft polished white floral built around bergamot at the opening, jasmine, tuberose and rose at the heart, and a base of white musk, patchouli, violet, vanilla and a hint of cinnamon. Where many of the niche Dior fragrances explore dense orientals and complex woods, Souffle de Soie offers a gentle floral counterpoint, designed to evoke the soft tactile quality of silk fabric against skin. How It Smells
