Black Opium Nuit Blanche, inspired by Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Nuit Blanche (2016)

Nuit Blanche keeps Black Opium's coffee and white flowers but pours plenty of milk into them. Rice gives the top a starchy, slightly powdery note, enlivened by anise and pepper. Coffee and orange blossom carry the heart, with coriander and peony in support. The base is a sweet, lactonic (milky) blend of vanilla, milk, caramel and white musk, often compared to a café latte.

About the original

Olivier Cresp created Nuit Blanche as a flanker of Black Opium, launched in early 2016 and named after Paris's all-night Nuit Blanche arts festival. It was sold in 30, 50 and 90 ml, and the launch coverage did not present it as a limited edition. Nuit Blanche no longer appears on YSL France's Black Opium page, which lists the original eau de parfum, Over Red, Pink Glaze and Le Parfum, and fragrance references describe it as discontinued.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Yves Saint Laurent stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Compared with the original, it is lighter and sits closer to the skin. The milk and caramel make it distinctly sweet, so anyone who prefers dry or fresh scents should look elsewhere.

Is Black Opium Nuit Blanche discontinued?

It no longer appears on YSL France's Black Opium page, and perfume databases describe it as discontinued. It was not launched as a limited edition.

How is Nuit Blanche different from the original Black Opium?

It is milkier and softer, with rice and milk notes added, and it is generally described as lighter and closer to the skin.

Does it smell of coffee?

Yes, but gently. The coffee is wrapped in milk and caramel, so it reads more like a latte than an espresso.

Is Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Nuit Blanche coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Yves Saint Laurent that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
