Oud Candy, inspired by BORNTOSTANDOUT Oud Candy (2025)

It opens like a sweet shop: brown sugar, boiled candy, toasted nuts and a splash of milk. White flowers pass through briefly, keeping the middle from becoming one note. Then the composition darkens, as oud, saffron and leather come forward with black woods and oakmoss. Caramel and vanilla stay underneath to the end, so the sweet and smoky sides keep trading places.

About the original

Oud Candy is part of BORNTOSTANDOUT's Extrait Extrême collection, the higher-concentration line from the Seoul niche house. The 2025 launch year comes from a single fragrance reference, so treat it as approximate. Margaux Le Paih Guérin is credited as the perfumer. The brand itself calls it sweet yet smoky.

Who it suits

Gourmand lovers who have never quite warmed to oud may find it an easy introduction, since sugar dominates the opening. The base is heavier, with leather and smoke. A sample makes sense before committing if candy-sweet openings tend to grate.
