Sand Dance, inspired by Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777 Sand Dance (2022)

A whisky-cream accord sets the tone, smooth and gently alcoholic, while mandarin and coriander seed add a citrusy spice. Cacao soon takes over, sweet and slightly dusty, laid over sandalwood and Kashmir wood. Benzoin and styrax, two balsamic resins, give the base a deep, ambery glow. Tonka and patchouli finish it with a hint of earthy sweetness.

About the original

Stéphane Humbert Lucas created Sand Dance in 2022 for his house, 777. The brand links it to the Kalbelia dancers of Rajasthan in India and describes it as sensual and hypnotic, with sweet cacao at its centre. It is sold without a gender label and listed as unisex by retailers.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777 stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Dark, sweet and boozy, it sits closer to a dessert wine than to anything fresh. Anyone hoping for an airy woody scent should note that the cacao and resins make it heavy.

Yes, cacao is the central note in the heart. It is sweet but held in check by sandalwood and resins, so it does not read as pure confectionery.

Is the whisky note strong?

It is most noticeable at the start, as a creamy, mellow liquor accord, and becomes part of the woody base later.
