Glossier You, inspired by Glossier You (2017)

Pink pepper gives a short, peppery sparkle at the top. Then the composition becomes very spare. Iris adds a cool, faintly powdery note, and ambrette, a musky seed with a pear-like nuance, warms it. Ambrox, a molecule modelled on ambergris, supplies the salty, woody glow that people tend to associate with Glossier You.

About the original

Glossier launched You in October 2017, created by Dora Baghriche and Frank Voelkl. Founder Emily Weiss's brief, as reported, was the smell of a boyfriend's neck after he had been wearing cologne. Glossier presents it as a skin scent that smells different on each wearer. Flankers such as You Doux Rêve and a solid version followed; this page is based on the original eau de parfum.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Glossier stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Minimalists will appreciate how little there is to it. It has no fruit, no sweet vanilla and only a trace of powder, so anyone who wants a big, layered perfume may find it too plain.

What does Ambrox smell like?

A clean, slightly salty and woody amber, created to suggest ambergris. It gives Glossier You its skin-like warmth.

Is Glossier You powdery?

Only a little. The iris adds a faint powder, but the overall feel is musky and ambery.
