Musk is almost the whole story here. At first it smells clean, nearly sterile, with white musk at the front. As it settles a powdery texture comes through along with a slight sweetness, and soft woods give it a faint base. There are no obvious fruits, flowers or spices, which is why it feels calming rather than busy.

About the original

Khalis means 'pure' in Arabic, and Lattafa sells the scent under both names, usually as a 100 ml eau de parfum with a matching 50 ml deodorant. Lattafa is a Dubai-based mass-market house with several other musk-named scents, including Velvet Musk, Musk Mood and Opulent Musk, which are different products. We could not verify a launch year or an official note list. Retailers label it either for women or for men and women.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Lattafa stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Clean-musk fans looking for a simple, low-key scent are the natural audience, and one retailer suggests it for wear all year. Its powdery side is mild. Buyers wanting sweetness, spice or a clear floral will find little to hold on to.

We have not been able to confirm whether Lattafa still produces it.

Mildly. It starts clean and turns gently powdery and slightly sweet as it dries down.
