Black Tie, inspired by Celine Black Tie (2019)

Orris butter, the concentrated extract of iris root, gives Black Tie its powdery, almost cosmetic texture from the first spray. Vanilla sits right alongside it, but cedar and tree moss hold it in a dry, upright frame, so it never drifts into dessert territory. As it settles, musk takes the edges off and leaves powder and vanilla as the main impression.

About the original

Black Tie was among the first scents in Celine's Haute Parfumerie collection, launched in November 2019 under Hedi Slimane's creative direction. Celine calls it a couturier's perfume and frames it as an androgynous vanilla. No perfumer has been publicly credited. It is offered in 100 and 200 ml within the collection.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Celine stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Fans of iris and powder who find most vanillas too sugary are the likeliest match. Despite the vanilla, it reads as polished and dry rather than sugary. Wearers who dislike lipstick-like notes may find the orris dominant.

Is Black Tie a sweet vanilla?

Not especially. Cedar, tree moss and orris butter frame the vanilla, so it comes across powdery and dry rather than sugary.

Both come from Celine's 2019 Haute Parfumerie collection and share orris butter, tree moss, vanilla and musk. Nightclubbing adds galbanum, patchouli and nicotine accents for a darker, greener effect.
