Erba Pura Magica, inspired by Sospiro Erba Pura Magica (2022)

Lemon and bergamot meet a basket of unnamed fruit notes, which gives the start a glossy, sherbet-like sparkle. Jasmine adds a little floral lift. Through the middle, balsamic notes and orris (the powdery, rooty scent of iris) round off the fruit. Musk and amber come forward later, with caramel and cedar keeping the base cosy but not heavy.

About the original

Erba Pura Magica appeared in 2022 in Sospiro's Erba collection, alongside Erba Leather and Erba Oud, and is usually credited to Christian Provenzano. Sospiro was founded in Turin in 2011 and since 2022 has been run from Dubai under Salah Al Zarooni. The scent is often compared to Xerjoff Erba Pura, a different house's fragrance, and is generally described as the smoother and sweeter of the two. One online claim says it is Sospiro's older Erba Pura (2013) renamed at a higher concentration, but that has not been confirmed.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Sospiro stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

A cheerful, fruit-forward scent with musk in the base. The caramel and orris make it sweet and slightly powdery, which may not appeal to people looking for a sharp citrus.

Sospiro released an Erba Pura in 2013, which we also make. Erba Pura Magica is listed as a 2022 scent; a claim that it is the older one renamed has not been confirmed.
