Erba Pura, inspired by Sospiro Erba Pura (2013)

Erba Pura starts with Calabrian bergamot, Sicilian orange and lemon, zesty and bright for the first stretch. Underneath, the brand lists only 'Mediterranean fruit', and the citrus soon takes on a ripened, sweetened quality. Vanilla from Madagascar beans and amber then settle in for good, smoothed by white musk. Erba is Italian for herb or grass, yet the scent reads fruity and sweet, with nothing green about it.

About the original

Erba Pura appeared in 2013 under Sospiro, a sister label within the Xerjoff group, and is usually credited to Christian Carbonnel and Laura Santander. Xerjoff now sells it under its own name in the Vibe collection, with the same notes, which is why many shoppers know it as Xerjoff Erba Pura. The original is an eau de parfum. Erba Pura Magica (2022) is a later flanker, and Erba Gold, Erba Oud and Erba Leather are separate scents.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Sospiro stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Sweetness is the deciding factor here. Fans of fruity musks and vanilla will find it easy to wear, while a buyer hoping for crisp Italian citrus may find the base too sugary, especially as it turns slightly powdery.

Is it Sospiro Erba Pura or Xerjoff Erba Pura?

Both names refer to the same scent. It launched under Sospiro in 2013, and Xerjoff now sells it in its Vibe collection with the same notes.

Is this Erba Pura Magica?

No. This is based on the original Erba Pura from 2013; Magica is a separate flanker released in 2022.

Does Erba Pura smell green or grassy?

Not really, despite the name. Its documented notes are citrus, fruit, vanilla, amber and musk, and it wears as a sweet fruity musk.
