Erba Pura, inspired by Xerjoff Erba Pura (2019)

Erba Pura begins with a burst of citrus, lemon and bergamot giving lift while Sicilian orange adds a rounder, sweeter peel. Xerjoff describes the heart only as Mediterranean fruit, and it reads ripe and sugary rather than tart. Underneath, Madagascar vanilla and amber build a dense, golden base that white musk keeps from feeling heavy. Fresh at the start, it is noticeably sweet by the drydown.

About the original

Xerjoff sells Erba Pura as an eau de parfum in its Vibe collection, next to Erba Gold, which is a separate fragrance. Perfume databases trace the scent back to 2013 under Sospiro, a Xerjoff sub-brand, and list the Xerjoff edition from 2019; the house has not published its own account of this. Christian Carbonnel and Laura Santander are usually credited as the perfumers. Xerjoff's site lists no extrait version.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Xerjoff stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Lovers of sweet fruit scents will find the most here, since the citrus is only the introduction. With its vanilla and amber base it is rich rather than crisp, so a buyer after a dry, cologne-like citrus may find it too sugary.

Perfume databases list a Sospiro Erba Pura from 2013 with the same perfumers and notes, and the Sospiro range is reported to have been folded into Xerjoff. This page refers to the current Xerjoff Erba Pura Eau de Parfum.
