Fève Délicieuse arrived in 2015 as Francois Demachy’s contribution to Dior’s La Collection Privée, building around Venezuelan tonka beans and a complex gourmand base that included cherry, cacao, caramel, praline and milk. The composition became one of the most beloved entries in the entire haute parfumerie space, beloved by gourmand fragrance enthusiasts who appreciated Demachy’s restraint with notes that could easily have collapsed into candy-sweet excess. Despite its devoted following, Dior retired Fève Délicieuse from production within a few years of launch. Original bottles now trade at significant premiums on resale platforms. How It Smells

The opening is unexpectedly fresh and slightly herbal, lavender giving an immediate aromatic lift with mint adding a quick green sharpness and Calabrian bergamot providing citrus brightness. Why was it discontinued?
Dior has not provided a public explanation, but speculation centres on the composition’s complexity (a long list of high-cost natural materials) and its overlap with other Dior gourmand projects. Despite strong customer demand, Dior retired it sometime around 2022.
