Ishq

Ishq, inspired by Anfas Ishq (2019)

Ishq starts with saffron, leathery and faintly medicinal, lifted by jasmine. Raspberry follows with a tart red-fruit sweetness, and amber rounds it into something warmer and more resinous. The base turns powdery, with a talc accord like fine face powder held in place by oakmoss. One review also notes a clean, metallic edge running through it.

About the original

Ishq comes from Anfas, a Dubai house founded by Asim Al Qassim, and sits in the brand's Fosol Collection. Fragrance references date it to 2019 and credit Asem Al Qassim with Christian Carbonnel. The brand sells it on its own site as a 75 ml extrait. Other, unrelated perfumes share the name, so the house matters when searching for it.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Anfas stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Autumn and winter are where one retailer places it, and the amber and powder base supports that. The talc note is prominent in the drydown, which delights lovers of powdery scents but may feel old-fashioned to others.

Increasingly so as it wears. The base is built on talc and oakmoss, so the drydown turns soft and powdery after the saffron and raspberry opening.

Anfas Ishq Extrait from the Fosol Collection, released in 2019. A Special Edition 30 version also exists; our version is based on the standard Ishq.
