Black Xs For Her, inspired by Rabanne Black XS for Her (2007)

Black XS for Her starts tart and peppery, with cranberry and tamarind giving a sour-fruit edge. The heart turns darker: rose and black violet with a cocoa note running through them. Vanilla rounds out the base, while massoia wood, a bark with a coconut-like smell, gives it texture. In the original, patchouli adds an earthy undertone.

About the original

Rabanne, then Paco Rabanne, launched Black XS for Her in 2007 as the companion to the men's Black XS. Perfume databases credit Emilie Coppermann and Mark Buxton. In 2018 it was reissued as an eau de parfum with much the same notes, though sandalwood replaced patchouli and many wearers find it lighter. Today Rabanne sells that eau de parfum online in France as part of its Archives collection of fragrances from earlier ranges.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Rabanne (formerly Paco Rabanne) stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

A dark, seductive character defines it, and it carries the mood of the late 2000s, when it first appeared. The cacao and vanilla make it sweet, so it is a poor match for anyone wanting a fresh, clean scent.

No. Rabanne still sells Black XS for Her Eau de Parfum, the 2018 version, online in France as part of its Archives collection of fragrances from earlier ranges. It no longer appears in the brand's US women's range.

The notes described here follow the 2007 original. The 2018 eau de parfum shares most of them but is lighter, with sandalwood in place of patchouli.
