Aphrodisiaque, inspired by Agent Provocateur Aphrodisiaque (2017)

Dark blackberry and jasmine open together, with white pepper giving a cool, spicy flicker. The heart turns golden: black locust honey, vanilla orchid and night-blooming cereus, a cactus flower that opens after dark. It is unapologetically sweet, more honey than sugar, with a creamy texture as musk and resins take over. The sweetness is upfront from the first minute.

About the original

Agent Provocateur released Aphrodisiaque in April 2017, with Honorine Blanc as perfumer and Inter Parfums holding the licence. It was presented as the other face of Pure Aphrodisiaque (2016), in the same bottle shape but gold rather than pink, and reportedly launched only in selected markets. The two share jasmine, orchid and musk, but Aphrodisiaque adds blackberry and honey. Agent Provocateur's website no longer has a fragrance section, and reports from 2021 onwards describe its perfumes disappearing from stores.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Agent Provocateur stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

The honey and blackberry make it rich and plush, closer to a dessert floral than a fresh one. Honey is the deciding note: it gives the flowers a sticky richness that a fan of green or citrus florals may find cloying.

Is Agent Provocateur Aphrodisiaque discontinued?

It appears so. The brand's website no longer sells fragrance, and reports say its perfumes have vanished from stores, though no official statement has been found.

Is this Aphrodisiaque or Pure Aphrodisiaque?

Aphrodisiaque, the 2017 gold-bottle version with blackberry and honey. Pure Aphrodisiaque (2016, pink bottle) is a different scent.

How sweet is it?

Clearly sweet. Honey and vanilla orchid sit at the centre, so it suits people who enjoy rich, honeyed florals.

Is Agent Provocateur Aphrodisiaque coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Agent Provocateur that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
