Aldehydes open the scent, a fizzy, soapy sparkle that defined many classic perfumes, together with basil, mandarin, bergamot and green ivy. Carnation, with its clove-like spice, is the most noticeable flower in the heart, surrounded by marigold, coriander, orange blossom, lily, jasmine, rose and lily-of-the-valley. Musk gives the whole composition a clean, soapy feel. It ends on sandalwood, vanilla and tonka bean, smooth and musky.

About the original

This was Dolce & Gabbana's first perfume, created in 1992 by Jean-Pierre Mary and Martine Pallix of IFF and sold simply as Dolce & Gabbana. A short film by Giuseppe Tornatore starring Monica Bellucci advertised it. The original formula later went out of production, and in 2012 the Pour Femme name was reused for a different, sweeter scent. Dolce & Gabbana currently sells a red-cap eau de toilette it calls its first fragrance, but the listed notes (rosemary, orange blossom, patchouli) suggest a reworked formula, and enthusiasts say it smells different from vintage bottles.

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Dolce & Gabbana stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.
