Kouros Silver

Kouros Silver, inspired by Yves Saint Laurent Kouros Silver (2015)

Kouros Silver has a short note list, and each part is easy to pick out. A green apple accord gives the opening a crisp, slightly tart fruitiness. Sage, a herb with a dry, faintly camphorous smell, runs underneath and supplies the aromatic backbone. The base is an ambery wood accord, smooth and only lightly sweet.

About the original

YSL released Kouros Silver in spring 2015 as a permanent flanker to Kouros from 1981, in a metallic bottle inspired by silver accessories. Michel Girard and Olivier Pescheux created it as a summer reading of Kouros, cooler and fresher than the animalic original. Searches on YSL Beauty's UK and French sites now return only the original Kouros, which is a different scent and still sold.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Yves Saint Laurent stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Compared with the original Kouros, this one is clean and fruity, with none of the animalic depth. Launch coverage positioned it as a summer fragrance. Fans of the 1981 Kouros hoping for that heavier character should look to the original instead.

Notes: Green Apple Accord, Sage, Ambery Wood Accord

The green apple accord comes first, crunchy and a little sour, with sage close behind.

Sage carries the middle, herbal and dry, stopping the apple from tipping into candy.

An ambery wood accord finishes it, quiet and restrained, with the apple fading into the background.

Is Kouros Silver discontinued?

It no longer appears in YSL's UK or French ranges. YSL has made no public statement about it.

How is Kouros Silver different from the original Kouros?

The 1981 Kouros is animalic and heavy. Silver is a lighter composition of apple, sage and amber woods, presented by YSL as a summer version.

Is it the same as Kouros Eau d'Été?

No. Eau d'Été and Cologne Sport were seasonal Kouros editions, while Silver launched in 2015 as a permanent flanker.

Is Yves Saint Laurent Kouros Silver coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Yves Saint Laurent that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
