Hugo, inspired by Hugo Boss HUGO Man (1995)

Hugo plays fruit against forest. Green apple comes first, tart rather than sugary, while lavender and mint add a herbal coolness. A light floral-spicy middle of sage and geranium with a little carnation follows. The base turns to fir, which Hugo Boss calls smoky fir balsam, backed by cedar and patchouli.

About the original

Hugo Boss launched Hugo in 1995 in a flask-shaped bottle. In 2021 the brand repackaged it as HUGO Man, with an updated bottle and recycled cardboard packaging; Hugo Boss presents it as the same fragrance, although some wearers report that it smells different. Hugo Iced and Hugo Dark Blue are separate flankers of the same line.

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Hugo Boss stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Yes, it is inspired by Hugo Boss's 1995 Hugo, now sold as HUGO Man. It is not based on Hugo Iced or Hugo Dark Blue, which we make separately.

Did HUGO Man change in 2021?

Hugo Boss repackaged it in 2021 and presents it as the same scent. Some wearers report a difference, but the brand has not announced a reformulation.
