Le Male Lover, inspired by Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Lover (2024)

Le Male Lover starts with white pepper, which smells cleaner and less biting than black. An amber heart follows (some retailers list ambergris instead), carrying a salty, marine quality. Vanilla forms the base and keeps the drydown rounded. Retailers describe the whole as a musky amber with an aquatic tilt.

About the original

Le Male Lover arrived in early 2024 as a limited-edition flanker of Le Male, which dates from 1995. It came in a metal tin printed with ocean-blue tattoo designs, inspired by a 1994 Gaultier runway show. Launch coverage stated that it was a limited edition, and it was never part of the permanent Le Male line. It followed Le Male Elixir, released in 2023.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Jean Paul Gaultier stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Vanilla and amber make the drydown noticeably sweet, so men who prefer fresh scents may find it rich. The salty note keeps it from becoming purely gourmand. It will appeal most to those who like ambery scents with some brine to them.

Yes. Jean Paul Gaultier released it in 2024 as a limited edition, and it was not added to the permanent Le Male line.

How does it differ from Le Male Elixir?

Elixir (2023) is a separate flanker. Le Male Lover centres on white pepper, amber and vanilla with a salty, aquatic twist. We make both, along with the original Le Male and Le Male Le Parfum.

Is Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Lover coming back?

It was a limited edition. So far, we have found no announcement from Jean Paul Gaultier about a re-release. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
