Light Blue Escape to Panarea launched as part of D&G’s annual Light Blue limited edition series, each year inspired by a different Italian island in the Aeolian and Mediterranean archipelagos. Panarea (a small volcanic island north of Sicily) inspired this composition built around bergamot and pear at the opening, jasmine and orange blossom at the heart, and a base of tonka bean, patchouli and amber. Where the standard Light Blue reads as bright Mediterranean citrus floral, Escape to Panarea pulled into warmer fruity floral territory with the gourmand tonka amber drydown. As an annual limited edition, the composition was retired after its season ended. Original bottles now sell on resale platforms. Our interpretation respects the warm character.

How It Smells

The opening is bright and slightly fruity, bergamot leading with its sparkling citrus character, pear adding a juicy soft fruity sweetness (an unusual note in the Light Blue family), and a quiet sparkling brightness threading through the early phase.
