Mr. Burberry Indigo, inspired by Burberry Mr. Burberry Indigo (2018)

Rosemary and lemon set the tone, herbal and tangy, with grapefruit and bergamot widening the citrus. The heart turns cooler and greener. Mint and violet leaf (a green note that smells of crushed leaves and cucumber) sit over a watery accord, with sage and a little tea keeping it dry. Oakmoss and amber anchor the base, joined by Iso E Super, a smooth woody material with a faintly velvety, mineral feel.

About the original

Francis Kurkdjian created Indigo in 2018 as a fresh flanker of Mr. Burberry (2016), and Burberry linked it to a breeze on the English coast. The navy bottle referred to the colour of the brand's trench coat. Mr. Burberry eau de toilette and eau de parfum are still sold, but Indigo has dropped out of Burberry's men's listings, and it has been widely reported as discontinued in recent years.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Burberry stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Weekend clothes, a walk by the sea, a warm afternoon: this is a relaxed scent rather than an evening one. It feels light and herbal. Next to the original Mr. Burberry it is the fresher flanker.

The opening is lemon, grapefruit and bergamot with a strong rosemary accent.

Mint and violet leaf give the heart a cool, leafy freshness, with water notes, sage, tea and hedione (a transparent jasmine-like material) adding air.

It settles on oakmoss, Iso E Super and amber, dry and slightly mineral.

Is Mr. Burberry Indigo discontinued?

It is no longer listed by Burberry, and it has been reported as withdrawn. The main Mr. Burberry fragrances are still sold.
