Violet Blonde, inspired by Tom Ford Violet Blonde (2011)

Violet Blonde starts green and peppery: violet leaf has a cucumber-like, watery greenness, and pink pepper adds a light fizz. Mandarin brightens the first minutes. The heart is iris and orris root, cool and powdery like good face powder, with jasmine for roundness. Suede and musk take over the base, lined with benzoin and Virginia cedar.

About the original

Violet Blonde was the powdery half of Tom Ford's 2011 women's pairing with Jasmin Rouge, both part of the Signature Collection. It sets violet and iris against suede, and wearers often compare it with Guerlain L'Heure Bleue and Balenciaga Paris. It is no longer listed on Tom Ford's fragrance collection page, and its former product page has been removed.

Our version

When we make it, ours will be an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It will not be Tom Ford stock, an official relaunch or the original formula.

Who it suits

Dry and powdery rather than sweet, it has a polished finish thanks to the suede. Iris lovers will recognise the style at once. Powder is the dominant impression, so it can feel cosmetic next to fresh or fruity florals.

Has Tom Ford discontinued Violet Blonde?

It no longer appears in Tom Ford's fragrance collection and its product page has been taken down, so it appears to have been withdrawn. We could not find a public statement from Tom Ford.

Is Violet Blonde related to Jasmin Rouge?

They launched together in 2011 in Tom Ford's Signature Collection but differ a great deal: Violet Blonde is a powdery violet and iris, Jasmin Rouge a spiced jasmine.
