Cool Water

Cool Water, inspired by Davidoff Cool Water (1988)

Cool Water opens cold and green: peppermint and lavender, with a marine freshness behind them. Geranium and sandalwood fill the heart, and oakmoss lends a slightly bitter, mossy shade. Amber and musk round it off without making it sweet. The result is simple and direct, an aromatic built around the feeling of cool, clean air.

About the original

Pierre Bourdon composed Cool Water for Davidoff in 1988. Davidoff presents it as the start of a new kind of freshness, and it is widely credited with shaping the fresh aquatic style in men's fragrance; Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez gave it five stars. Cool Water Woman followed in 1996. The formula has been adjusted over the years, partly because of IFRA rules on certain materials.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Davidoff stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its appeal is plain freshness rather than depth. The mint and lavender are brisk and the whole thing is lean, so men who want warmth, sweetness or a creamy finish will find it austere.

Is this the men's or the women's Cool Water?

It is inspired by the men's Cool Water from 1988. Cool Water Woman (1996) is a different scent, and we carry a version of that too.

Does Cool Water smell of the sea?

It has a marine, watery freshness, but mint and lavender lead, so it reads as aromatic first and aquatic second.
