Allure Homme Sport

Allure Homme Sport, inspired by Chanel Allure Homme Sport (2004)

Mandarin and orange lead, lifted by aldehydes (aroma materials with a clean, sparkling, slightly soapy effect) and an aquatic note. Cedar, pepper and neroli give the heart a light woody structure. The base turns softer, with tonka bean, which Chanel calls almondy, wrapped in white musk and supported by vetiver and amber. Fresh on top, it ends smooth and a little sweet.

About the original

Chanel launched Allure Homme Sport in 2004 as a fresher flanker of Allure Homme, again composed by Jacques Polge. The original bottle took its cue from the brand's J12 watch, with red 'sport' lettering. A Cologne followed in 2007 and the Eau Extrême in 2012, and the brand also sells a Superleggera version. Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Chanel stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Chanel pitches it at men who appreciate the outdoors. Its finish is musk and tonka rather than citrus, so a man wanting a bracing, purely aquatic scent may find the base too soft.

Sport is fresher, with citrus, an aquatic note and a musky tonka base. The 1999 Allure Homme is drier and more resinous, built on vetiver, labdanum and pepper.

Is this the Eau Extrême?

No, it is inspired by the original 2004 eau de toilette. The Eau Extrême (2012) is a separate, denser version.
