Acqua Di Gio Profumo, inspired by Giorgio Armani Acqua di Giò Profumo (2015)

It begins as recognisably Acqua di Giò: salty sea notes and bergamot. Rosemary and sage then push it in an herbal direction, with geranium giving a rosy, green lift. Incense gradually rises underneath, dry and smoky, and patchouli adds an earthy weight. The overall effect is cooler and stonier than the original, like wet rock rather than open water.

About the original

Alberto Morillas returned to the Acqua di Giò line for Profumo in 2015. Armani described it as born from volcanic rock and deep ocean waters, which explains its mineral, smoky tone. The brand's US website now lists it under discontinued products and suggests the EDP, Profondo and EDT instead. Acqua di Giò Parfum, launched in 2023, has a very similar note list, though opinions differ on how alike the two are.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Giorgio Armani stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

It suits a man who likes the marine freshness of Acqua di Giò but wants something darker and more mineral. Its incense grows more noticeable as it dries, so the last stage is distinctly smoky.

Is Acqua di Giò Profumo discontinued?

Yes. Armani lists it as discontinued on its US website and points buyers to other Acqua di Giò versions.

Is this the same as Acqua di Giò Parfum?

No. Parfum is a separate 2023 release with a similar note list; our reference is the 2015 Profumo.

Is Profumo smoky?

Moderately. Incense sits under the marine opening and becomes more noticeable in the drydown.

Is Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gio Profumo coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Giorgio Armani that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
