Gentleman Society, inspired by Givenchy Gentleman Society (2023)

Sage and cardamom give Society an aromatic, herbal start. Narcissus follows, with a slightly green, hay-like depth rather than a pretty bouquet. Vetiver runs through the middle and gives it grip. Later, sandalwood and cedar settle in, and the vanilla mostly smooths the wood instead of sweetening it.

About the original

Maïa Lernout and Karine Dubreuil-Sereni composed Gentleman Society, launched in February 2023 as an Eau de Parfum flanker of Gentleman Givenchy. Givenchy classes it as woody, floral and aromatic, with its press stressing wild narcissus paired with a deep woody accord. Benjamin Clementine fronted the campaign. Later Society flankers such as Extrême and Ambrée are separate compositions, and the 2018 Gentleman Givenchy Eau de Parfum is a different scent again.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Givenchy stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Narcissus gives it a floral streak within a woody, aromatic frame, so it suits a man who is comfortable with a flower note in his scent. The finish is smooth and gently sweet, though far from a vanilla bomb.

How does it differ from Gentleman Givenchy Eau de Parfum?

The 2018 Gentleman Eau de Parfum is built on iris, patchouli and black vanilla. Society moves towards sage, narcissus and vetiver, so it is greener and less dark.

Is it a floral fragrance?

Partly. Narcissus is a key note, but the sage, vetiver and woods keep it firmly in woody aromatic territory.
