Gozo, inspired by Jeroboam Gozo (2020)

Saffron opens Gozo with a dry, leathery spice, and tuberose follows straight after, heady and lush, with bergamot giving the pair a little lift. Geranium and violet leaf then bring a rosy, green middle, and cedar starts to show through. White musk, patchouli and ambroxan (a clean ambergris-like material) form a dense base.

About the original

Jeroboam is a Paris niche house whose extraits are created by independent perfumer Vanina Muracciole. Gozo launched in April 2020, with artistic direction by social-media personality Abdulaziz Al Ajail and inspired by the Maltese island of Gozo. Its orange bottle broke with the brand's usual black and gold flacon. A Gozo Lab Edition followed in 2022 as a separate release; the copy here describes the original Gozo.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Jeroboam stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Wearers who enjoy saffron-led perfumes from niche houses will find it familiar territory, with tuberose making it more floral than most. A retailer classes it as an oriental with spicy floral notes. Tuberose is prominent, which may not appeal to anyone who finds white flowers heavy.

Is this the original Gozo or the Lab Edition?

The reference is the original 2020 Gozo extrait. The Lab Edition from 2022 is a separate release.

Is Gozo mainly a tuberose perfume?

Tuberose is central, but saffron shares the opening and gives it a spiced, leathery character, so it is less creamy than a classic tuberose soliflore.
