Santa Barbara Strawberry, inspired by NEST New York Santa Barbara Strawberry (2025)

Strawberry leads in a ripe, sun-warmed way rather than as candy. Pink peony adds a fresh, dewy floral note that keeps the fruit from feeling heavy. Solar woods sit beneath, a woody accord designed to suggest sun on skin and dry timber. It is a short, clear composition with three named notes and no dark base.

About the original

NEST New York, the independent US fragrance and home-scent house founded by Laura Slatkin, launched Santa Barbara Strawberry in 2025, first as an oil in a bottle and a rollerball, with a matching body mist. The eau de parfum spray followed and was reported as new at Sephora in December 2025 by Now Smell This. Brand copy draws on berry fields along the California coast. The same three notes are listed for both versions, though it is not known whether the formulas are identical.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not NEST New York stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Strawberry fans after a light daytime scent are the obvious audience, since the fruit sits at the centre. Spring and summer suit its sunny theme. Opinions on the original vary, with some finding the berry vivid and others finding the whole a little plain, so anyone wanting a complex floral may prefer something richer.

The opening is ripe strawberry, fruity and gently sweet, with peony arriving early.

As it settles, pink peony and solar woods take over, leaving a clean, lightly woody fruit scent on the skin.

Is this based on the NEST Santa Barbara Strawberry spray or the oil?

We use the eau de parfum spray (2025) as the reference. The earlier rollerball oil lists the same notes.

Is Santa Barbara Strawberry a candle scent?

NEST is known for home fragrance, but Santa Barbara Strawberry is also sold as a wearable eau de parfum, and that spray is our reference.
