Sugar, inspired by Franck Boclet Sugar (2017)

Marshmallow sets the tone, soft and powdered, with honey, coconut and blackcurrant adding sticky sweetness and a tart fruit edge. Bergamot adds a lift. Pear and peach make the heart juicy, and vanilla and caramel push it firmly into dessert territory with a little jasmine woven through. The closing accord turns pinker, with raspberry, violet and orange blossom over white musk.

About the original

Sugar is part of Franck Boclet's Rock & Riot Black Edition, the line the brand created in 2016 and sells as fragrance extracts. Retailers and fragrance references date Sugar itself to 2017, though the brand does not. Franck Boclet presents it as a sweet, marshmallow-like gourmand with tart fruit and amber facets. The perfumer has not been named. Several other perfumes share the name Sugar; this page refers to the Franck Boclet one.

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Franck Boclet stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Confectionery is the whole point here, and the marshmallow and caramel make that obvious from the first spray. Gourmand fans will enjoy it, while anyone who prefers fresh, woody or dry scents will find it too sugary.
