Roja calls Sweetie Aoud 'the yummy oud', and the opening explains why: a patisserie accord that the brand likens to melted butter, caramelised sugar and toasted almond, lifted by bergamot and the bitter, herbal tang of artemisia. Rose and cistus bridge the sweetness to what lies below. Over time the bakery impression recedes and the composition grows woodier and more balsamic, with oud (agarwood), frankincense and labdanum giving a dark, resinous depth. Cumin and cardamom add a spiced, faintly savoury edge.

About the original

Launched in 2015, Sweetie Aoud belongs to Roja Parfums' Aoud range next to Amber Aoud and Espresso Aoud, and it is sold as a Parfum. The brand's page gives no gender, and it is generally treated as a shared scent. Opinion divides over whether the sweetness or the oud has the upper hand, and some reviewers mention changes in later batches.

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Roja Parfums stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Sweet-toothed wearers who find most ouds too medicinal are the obvious match. Cumin and a resinous base give it a darker side than a pure gourmand, so someone wanting a simple vanilla dessert scent may find the later stages heavy.

Bergamot and artemisia, a bitter, wormwood-like herb, open over the patisserie accord, so the sweetness arrives with a green, slightly medicinal lift.

May rose and cistus form the heart, adding a rounded floral note and a first touch of resin.

The base is long and layered: oud, frankincense and labdanum alongside gurjun balsam, cypriol, guaiac wood, cedarwood and amyris, with cardamom, cumin and juniper giving spice and a dry edge. Patchouli ties it together.

Is Sweetie Aoud very sweet?

Is this the same as Roja Amber Aoud?

No. Sweetie Aoud is the gourmand member of Roja's Aoud range; Amber Aoud and Espresso Aoud are separate fragrances.
