Ombre Leather, inspired by Tom Ford Ombré Leather (2018)

Cardamom gives Ombré Leather a cool, aromatic first breath before jasmine sambac appears, faintly sweet and floral. The leather underneath is sueded and lightly smoky, closer to a leather couch than to raw hide. Patchouli, white moss and amber fill out the base, creating the impression of sun-heated rock and sand that Tom Ford was aiming for.

About the original

Tom Ford released Ombré Leather in 2018 as part of its Signature line. It is reported to be a reworking of Ombré Leather 16, a 2016 Private Blend scent, with the earlier version's violet leaf replaced by amber. A Parfum followed in 2021, and the brand also sells Eau d'Ombré Leather and Ombré Leather Reserve as separate versions. This page follows the 2018 Eau de Parfum.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Tom Ford stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Compared with Tuscan Leather, it is smoother and carries no fruit. The jasmine keeps it from being purely dark, but leather remains the main event throughout. Those hoping for sweetness will find very little of it.

Is this Ombré Leather Eau de Parfum or the Parfum?

Our eau de parfum takes the 2018 Ombré Leather Eau de Parfum as its reference. The 2021 Parfum and the Reserve are separate editions, as is Eau d'Ombré Leather.

Is Ombré Leather the same as Ombré Leather 16?

Not exactly. The 2018 version is reported to be a reworking of the 2016 Private Blend scent, with amber in place of the violet leaf.
