Tuscan Leather, inspired by Tom Ford Tuscan Leather (2007)

Raspberry and saffron hit first, an odd and memorable pairing of red fruit and a dry, leathery spice, with thyme adding a herbal note. Olibanum, which is frankincense, and night-blooming jasmine form the middle. Then the leather takes over: black suede and a darker hide note over amberwood, raw and animalic rather than polished.

About the original

Tuscan Leather arrived in 2007 with the first twelve Private Blend fragrances, and Tom Ford's launch text described it as a chypre blend. Today the brand calls it a modern classic built on the primal, animalic scent of leather. One 2018 review comparing it with Ombré Leather singles out its fruity, petrol-like accord. A flanker, Tuscan Leather Intense, came later; this page follows the original Eau de Parfum.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Tom Ford stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Raw leather is the main thing to know about it: animalic and a little smoky, not a gentle suede. The raspberry makes the opening unusual, and buyers who dislike fruit in a leather scent should be aware of it. Within Tom Ford's leather scents, Ombré Leather is the smoother choice.

Is this Tuscan Leather or Tuscan Leather Intense?

Our eau de parfum takes the original 2007 Tuscan Leather Eau de Parfum as its reference. Tuscan Leather Intense is a later flanker that we do not make.

How does Tuscan Leather differ from Ombré Leather?

Tuscan Leather sets leather against raspberry and saffron and is the rawer of the two. Ombré Leather (2018) is built on cardamom, jasmine sambac, patchouli and moss, with a sueded leather.
