Sogno in Rosso, inspired by Valentino Anatomy of Dreams Sogno in Rosso Parfum (2024)

A crack of black pepper comes first, with juniper berry adding a gin-like resinous note and petitgrain a green, bitter-orange one. That spice then melts into an Italian milk-foam accord, frothy and creamy like a latte. Incense gives the milk a faint smokiness, and orange blossom a floral glow. Sandalwood, Madagascar bourbon vanilla and an ambergris accord leave it smooth and gently sweet.

About the original

Sogno in Rosso is one of seven non-gendered Anatomy of Dreams scents that Valentino launched in July 2024, initially sold only in its boutiques. Fabrice Pellegrin is the perfumer, according to the brand's own pages. The collection takes its cue from Rome's hedonistic spirit, and the name refers to Valentino red. Valentino designed the seven scents to be mixed with two enhancers, Bianco 1968 and Rockstud Noir. The brand classes it as ambery spicy and sells it as a parfum.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Valentino stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Latte and milky-wood fans get a peppery version that never tips into heavy dessert. The pepper and juniper opening is brisk, while the vanilla stays restrained. Strict gourmand lovers may want more sugar than this gives.
