Fleur De Figuier, inspired by Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier Eau Parfumée Bienfaisante (2013)

Fig dominates from start to finish, but in two moods at once: the ripe, warm pulp of the fruit and the green, sappy leaves of the tree. Grapefruit adds a bittersweet zest at the top, and mandarin leaves bring a crushed-leaf greenness that keeps the fruit from feeling heavy. Musk sits quietly underneath, giving the finish a clean, skin-like smoothness.

About the original

Francis Kurkdjian created Fleur de Figuier for Roger & Gallet, and it launched in spring 2013. It was first sold as an Eau Fraîche and now belongs to the Eau Parfumée Bienfaisante line, a light, cologne-strength range that the brand says draws on its original Eau de Cologne formula. Roger & Gallet describes it as containing 94% ingredients of natural origin. A separate Fleur de Figuier Eau de Parfum with a different note list also exists, and Feuille de Figuier is another scent altogether.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Roger & Gallet stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Green-note enthusiasts are the obvious audience, since the fig here is leafy and barely sweetened. The original is a delicate, cologne-weight scent with a soft musky base, and its style may seem too sheer for anyone after a rich floral.

Which version of Fleur de Figuier is it based on?

The core version, sold as an Eau Parfumée Bienfaisante (earlier Eau Fraîche). The separate Eau de Parfum lists candied fig, woods and patchouli instead.

Does it smell sweet?

Only a little. The fig pulp is gently sweet, but grapefruit and mandarin leaves keep it green and fresh.
