Nina, inspired by Nina Ricci Nina Eau de Toilette (2006)

Nina opens with lemon and lime, tart and sparkling, before the sweetness arrives. The heart is a toffee apple, crisp fruit coated in caramelised sugar, with gardenia adding a creamy floral note. Earlier descriptions of the formula also mention praline and peony, which fits its confectionery character. Cedarwood and white musk keep the base light, so it never becomes heavy.

About the original

Nina Ricci launched Nina in 2006 in a red, apple-shaped bottle and credits master perfumer Olivier Cresp. It replaced an earlier, different fragrance called Nina from 1987, worth knowing if you remember the older scent. Nina Ricci still sells the 2006 Nina, now described as vegan and offered in a refillable size. Flankers include Nina Rouge.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Nina Ricci stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Its cheerful, candied character makes it a relaxed, casual choice. The toffee apple is unmistakably sweet, which will not suit fans of dry or green scents.

It is sweet, mostly from the toffee apple heart, but lemon and lime keep the opening bright.
