Oui La Vie Est Belle, inspired by Lancôme Oui La Vie Est Belle L'Eau de Parfum d'Exception (2022)

Lancôme called this 'the first iris gourmand sublimated by rose', which sums up how it wears. Iris pallida, the powdery root note at the core of La Vie Est Belle, sits beside a fuller rose heart of damask and Isparta roses. Madagascar vanilla and patchouli carry the gourmand base, so it stays recognisably part of the family. The overall effect is plusher and more floral than the 2012 scent.

About the original

Oui La Vie Est Belle arrived in 2022 to mark ten years of La Vie Est Belle. Lancôme credits Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion, two of the three perfumers behind the original, and dressed the bottle with a gold firework motif. Published notes differ: several retailers describe raspberry, pink pepper and ylang-ylang, while Lancôme's own notes centre on rose, iris, vanilla and patchouli. It no longer appears in Lancôme's current La Vie Est Belle line-up in France, Germany, Italy, the UK or the US.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Lancôme stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

A wearer who reaches for La Vie Est Belle but wants it rosier is the natural match. Dense and sugary at its core, it will raise the same reservations as the original for people who dislike patchouli or gourmand bases.

Iris pallida sets the tone early, powdery and a little rooty, with rose arriving almost at once.

Damask rose and Isparta rose fill the heart, more petal-like and prominent than in La Vie Est Belle.

Madagascar vanilla and patchouli form the base, giving the familiar gourmand finish with an earthy undertone.

Is this the original La Vie Est Belle?

No. This page is the 2022 flanker Oui La Vie Est Belle, which adds more rose to the iris gourmand formula. We make the 2012 original separately.

Is Oui La Vie Est Belle discontinued?

It no longer appears in Lancôme's La Vie Est Belle range in France, Germany, Italy, the UK or the US. Some retailers have called it a limited edition, though launch coverage did not describe it that way.

Why do note lists for this perfume differ?

Retailers publish a pyramid with raspberry, pink pepper and ylang-ylang. We follow the notes Lancôme itself gives: rose, iris pallida, vanilla and patchouli.

Is Lancôme Oui La Vie Est Belle coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Lancôme that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
