Paris Paris, inspired by Chanel Paris-Paris (2022)

Citrus does the talking at first, lemon and mandarin together giving a quick, zesty lift. Damask rose arrives underneath almost at once, and pink peppercorn stops it turning sweet with a dry, tingling spice. The rose stays fresh and fairly sheer throughout. Patchouli, an earthy leaf oil with a woody edge, gives the later stages a darker floor without weighing the composition down.

About the original

Chanel added Paris-Paris to Les Eaux de Chanel, its permanent collection of city-themed eaux de toilette, in May 2022. It was composed by Olivier Polge, the house perfumer, and Chanel describes it as a woody floral inspired by the morning bustle of a Parisian café terrace. Several other Les Eaux carry Paris in their names, among them Paris-Deauville, Paris-Biarritz and Paris-Riviera, but each is a separate scent. The original exists only as an eau de toilette.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Chanel stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Chanel frames it around a carefree spring morning, and it wears as a daytime rose. The peppercorn adds a prickle some rose lovers may not expect, while the eau de toilette was positioned as light and fresh rather than heavy, so it works well for women who find most rose perfumes too dense.

No. The original is an eau de toilette positioned as light and fresh, and the citrus and pepper keep the rose airy.
