Acqua Di Gioia Essenza, inspired by Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gioia Essenza (2011)

Mint and Amalfi lemon open it with a cocktail-like snap, and pink pepper adds a slight tingle. A sugar note runs underneath from early on, so the freshness never feels austere. Jasmine forms the floral centre, while cashmeran, a musky, woody material with a suede-like texture, and Virginia cedar shape a drier base. It is stronger and sweeter than the original Acqua di Gioia.

About the original

Armani released Essenza in 2011, a year after Acqua di Gioia, as a denser Eau de Parfum flanker. Its opening is often compared to a mojito, thanks to the mint, lemon and sugar. Armani's US Acqua di Gioia range now shows only the EDP and EDP Intense, with no sign of Essenza, and fragrance references report it as discontinued. Despite the shared word in the name, this women's fragrance has nothing to do with the men's Acqua di Giò Essenza.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Giorgio Armani stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Playful and easy to wear, it keeps a fresh mint and lemon start. The sugar is more prominent than the name suggests, so those wanting a dry, watery freshness may find it too sweet.

It no longer appears in Armani's Acqua di Gioia range, and fragrance databases now mark it as discontinued.
