Beauty, inspired by Calvin Klein Beauty (2010)

Beauty is a minimalist composition. Ambrette, a seed with a natural musky, faintly pear-like smell, frames a jasmine kept clean and polished, without the heavier, indolic (slightly animalic) side the flower can show. Cedar sits underneath as a pencil-shaving dryness. From first spray to drydown it stays much the same, and that steadiness is part of its understated appeal.

About the original

Sophie Labbé created Beauty for Calvin Klein in 2010, with Diane Kruger as the face of the campaign. Several flankers followed, including Beauty Sheer Essence. Calvin Klein fragrances are sold mainly through retailers rather than the brand's own pages, and some large European retailers still list this one.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Calvin Klein stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

It is the kind of floral that works in an office or a meeting, where a louder perfume would feel out of place. Those who like their jasmine rich and animalic will find it too restrained, and its soapy cleanliness is not to everyone's taste.

Ambrette gives the opening a musky, faintly fruity smoothness rather than a citrus burst.

Jasmine fills the heart, clean and fresh, more like washed skin than a garden at night.

Virginia cedar adds a dry, woody line to the drydown, never pulling far from the jasmine.

Is Calvin Klein Beauty still available?

We have not been able to confirm whether Calvin Klein still produces it, though some large European retailers still list it.

Is Beauty a heavy jasmine?

No. The jasmine is clean and slightly soapy, without the indolic depth of richer jasmine perfumes.
