Alien Eau Extraordinaire, inspired by Mugler Alien Eau Extraordinaire (2014)

Neroli and bergamot give it a fresh, citrus-blossom start, and a tea note adds a slightly dry, aromatic lift. Orange blossom and tiare, a Tahitian gardenia, fill the middle with a sunny white-floral glow. Heliotrope brings a powdery, almond-like touch. The base keeps Alien's cashmeran, a musky woody material, and white amber, but in a lighter, smoother form than the original.

About the original

Mugler introduced Alien Eau Extraordinaire in early 2014 as a lighter, more summery interpretation of Alien. It was composed by Dominique Ropion and Véronique Nyberg and came as an Eau de Toilette in refillable 60 ml and 90 ml bottles. It leaves out the original's jasmine, and one reviewer found much of Alien's pungency gone. The scent no longer appears on Mugler's UK or US sites, and fragrance references report it as discontinued.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Mugler stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Buyers who love the Alien silhouette but not its intensity are the obvious match. Warm-weather days suit its citrus-and-blossom character, and while it is far lighter than Alien, the amber base still gives it some body.

Is Alien Eau Extraordinaire discontinued?

It no longer appears in Mugler's UK or US ranges, and fragrance references report it as discontinued.

How does it compare with the original Alien?

It is lighter and fresher, with neroli, bergamot and tea at the top and no jasmine. The cashmeran and white amber base links it to Alien. We also make a version inspired by the original Alien.

Was it an Eau de Parfum or Eau de Toilette?

The original was sold as an Eau de Toilette, in 60 ml and 90 ml refillable bottles.

Is Mugler Alien Eau Extraordinaire coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Mugler that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
