Florabotanica, inspired by Balenciaga Florabotanica (2012)

Mint opens Florabotanica with a cool, almost icy freshness. Rose follows, dewy and green rather than jammy, and carnation adds spice. The cannabis note is herbal and leafy, not smoky, and gives the heart a slightly wild, greenhouse feel. Vetiver and amber ground it in a dry, earthy base.

About the original

Balenciaga launched Florabotanica in September 2012 for a younger audience, with Olivier Polge and Jean-Christophe Hérault as perfumers. Kristen Stewart fronted the campaign, shot by Steven Meisel, and the bottle carried metal floral sculptures inspired by Ghesquière prints. Launch descriptions also mentioned caladium leaves. Since 2024 it has been widely reported as discontinued. Rosabotanica (2013) is a separate flanker.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Balenciaga stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Gardeners, plant lovers and anyone bored of sweet florals will enjoy its photorealistic greenery. The mint keeps it lively. It is a strong, distinctive scent, so those who want something discreet, or dislike green and herbal notes, may find it too much.

Is Florabotanica discontinued?

Fragrance references mark it as discontinued, and many recent reports say the same. We could not verify this on Balenciaga's own site.

Does it smell of cannabis smoke?

No. The cannabis note is herbal and leafy, more like crushed green plants than smoke.

How is it different from Rosabotanica?

Rosabotanica (2013) is a separate flanker. Florabotanica is the original, built on mint, rose and cannabis.

Is Balenciaga Florabotanica coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Balenciaga that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
