J’ Adore In Joy
39,00 €
Francois Demachy’s 2017 discontinued salty J’Adore flanker. Sea salt and citrus over jasmine sambac, ylang, neroli and tuberose, finishing on peach and musk. Rebuilt at 40 percent oil.
The Discontinued Salty White Floral, 2017
J’Adore In Joy launched in 2017, composed by Francois Demachy as one of the most unusual flankers in the J’Adore line. The brief was a salty white floral built around an unexpected sea salt accord (inspired by fleur de sel), with jasmine sambac, ylang ylang, neroli and tuberose providing the floral heart and peach grounding the base. The salty top note distinguished it from every other J’Adore variant and gave the composition its trademark seaside-meets-floral character. Despite a devoted following, Dior has effectively retired J’Adore In Joy from production, with major retailers calling it discontinued and the original being increasingly difficult to source through official channels. Our interpretation brings the composition back at proper concentration.
How It Smells
The opening is unexpectedly fresh and slightly mineral, sea salt giving an immediate saline lift that distinguishes In Joy from every other J’Adore flanker, with a quiet citrus brightness adding sparkle through the early phase. Within ten minutes the floral heart appears: jasmine sambac takes a leading role with its creamy white floral character, ylang ylang adds soft exotic floral support, neroli contributes a clean fresh floral citrus character, and tuberose threads through the middle with creamy white floral depth. The base is where In Joy reveals its modern identity. Peach gives a soft fruity warmth, white musk smooths the drydown, and a quiet woody character grounds the composition. The overall impression is sunlit seaside floral, polished and slightly unusual, recognisably J’Adore in lineage but distinctly different in mood.
The Notes
Top: sea salt, citrus.
Heart: jasmine sambac, ylang ylang, neroli, tuberose.
Base: peach, white musk, woody notes.
How Our Version Compares
With the original being effectively retired, finding fresh stock of J’Adore In Joy has become increasingly difficult through official channels. Resellers continue to stock the perfume but freshness varies and prices climb steadily. Our European Union production at 40 percent perfume oil concentration brings the composition back at proper density, with the sea salt citrus opening sparkling cleanly, the jasmine sambac neroli tuberose heart holding through the wearing, and the peach musk drydown lasting well into the next day on clothing.
Common Questions
Is the original really being discontinued?
Yes, effectively. Multiple retailers describe it as discontinued, and the perfume has become harder to source through Dior’s main channels. Some sites still carry remaining stock; freshness and authenticity vary considerably.
Does it really smell salty?
Yes, distinctly. The sea salt accord is one of the most recognisable features of the composition, giving the perfume an unusual mineral saline character at the opening that distinguishes it from any other J’Adore variant. The saltiness softens into the floral heart but threads through the entire wearing.
How does it compare to the original J’Adore?
Significantly different. The original J’Adore is a radiant abstract white floral with a fruity opening and musk-vanilla-cedar base. J’Adore In Joy is a salty white floral with a fresh saline opening and peach-musk base. They share a name and the J’adore amphora bottle but smell quite different.
What season suits it best?
Spring and summer especially, when the salty seaside character reads at its best. The composition is built for warm weather and outdoor occasions. Autumn wear is fine; deep winter can feel slightly out of season against heavy clothing.
How long does it last?
Six to nine hours at our concentration, with the peach musk woody drydown lingering as a soft skin scent into the next morning on clothing. The 40 percent oil approach extends the wearing significantly beyond the original eau de toilette format.
