Flora Gorgeous Jasmine, inspired by Gucci Flora Gorgeous Jasmine (2022)

Citrus clears the way first, Italian mandarin and bergamot with a pinch of black pepper that adds lift rather than heat. Then the jasmine opens, two kinds layered together: grandiflorum for its airy, fruity facet and sambac for a denser, tea-like one. A magnolia accord and Damask rose fill out the heart. Sandalwood, benzoin and patchouli give a smooth, lightly resinous drydown that keeps the flowers fresh rather than heady.

About the original

Alberto Morillas composed Flora Gorgeous Jasmine, which Gucci released on 1 August 2022 as the second Flora Gorgeous eau de parfum, after Gardenia. Grandiflorum jasmine leads the composition, with sambac, magnolia and rose around it. The turquoise lacquered bottle carries the Flora pattern, first drawn by Vittorio Accornero in 1966 and reworked under Alessandro Michele.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Gucci stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

As jasmine scents go, this one is fairly clean and bright, and less sweet than Flora Gorgeous Gardenia. The jasmine stays present from start to finish. Some wearers notice a slightly soapy or powdery quality, which will not please anyone hoping for a lush, heady jasmine.

How is Flora Gorgeous Jasmine different from Flora Gorgeous Gardenia?

Jasmine is more citrus-led, with a sandalwood and benzoin base. Gardenia is fruitier and finishes on brown sugar and patchouli.

Is it a heavy jasmine?

No. The jasmine is clear and fresh rather than dense or animalic, and some wearers find it slightly soapy.
