Light Blue Sun, inspired by Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Sun (2019)

The familiar Light Blue lemon and green apple are still there at the start, but coconut water softens them. An ozonic accord, which smells like sea air on a breezy day, keeps the opening cool. The middle turns floral and tropical with white rose, jasmine and frangipani. White musks, amber and bourbon vanilla give the drydown a sun-warmed, skin-like finish.

About the original

Dolce & Gabbana released Light Blue Sun in May 2019 as a limited summer edition of Light Blue, issued together with Light Blue Sun pour Homme. Trade press described the pair as a limited-edition, sun-inspired scent. Our reference is the women's version, an Eau de Toilette sold in 25, 50 and 100 ml. As a seasonal release it was not kept in the permanent Light Blue range.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Dolce & Gabbana stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Summer is its season, as a sun-inspired limited edition. It feels lighter and more tropical than Light Blue, though anyone who dislikes coconut should know that coconut water is part of the opening.

Italian lemon and Granny Smith apple open it, crisp and tart, quickly rounded by coconut water and an airy ozonic note.

The heart moves to white rose, jasmine and frangipani, the last giving a creamy, tropical-flower character.

Cedarwood, amber, white musks and bourbon vanilla close it on a gentle, warm-skin accord.

Is this the women's Light Blue Sun or Light Blue Sun pour Homme?

The women's Light Blue Sun from 2019. Light Blue Sun pour Homme was released alongside it as a separate men's scent.

How does it differ from the original Light Blue?

It keeps the lemon and apple opening but adds coconut water, frangipani and vanilla, so it is lighter and more tropical than Light Blue.

Does it smell of coconut?

Yes. Coconut water is part of the top notes, and with frangipani and vanilla it gives the scent a beach-like softness.

Is Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Sun coming back?

It was a limited edition. So far, we have found no announcement from Dolce & Gabbana about a re-release. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
