Metallique, inspired by Tom Ford Métallique (2019)

Aldehydes create a bright, fizzy, slightly metallic opening, joined by bergamot and pink peppercorn. The heart is white-floral: hawthorn and lily of the valley give a clean, green freshness, while heliotrope adds a soft, almond-like powder. Ambrette seed and Peru balsam bring a musky, resinous warmth, and the drydown settles on vanilla and creamy sandalwood.

About the original

Tom Ford launched Métallique in summer 2019 as a women's eau de parfum, under the tagline 'Willful. Fearless. Addictive.' Some sources give 2017 as the launch year, but launch coverage dates it to 2019. The idea was a metallic sheen of aldehydes over white flowers. It is no longer listed by Tom Ford, and the UK retailer John Lewis says it is unlikely to receive more stock.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Tom Ford stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Luminous and clean, it has the classic sparkle of aldehydes but a modern warmth in the base. The metallic opening may feel sharp to some. Wearers used to soft, sweet florals may need time to warm to the aldehydes.

It no longer appears on Tom Ford's US or UK sites, and one UK retailer says it is unlikely to receive more stock.

What do aldehydes smell like?

Aldehydes give a clean, fizzy, slightly waxy brightness, often compared to freshly ironed linen or champagne bubbles. In Métallique they create the cool, metallic effect the name refers to.

Is Tom Ford Metallique coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Tom Ford that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
