Magnolia leads with a luminous, faintly lemony floral note. Pittosporum, an evergreen shrub with small, honey-scented white flowers, wraps around it. Madonna lily brings the fleshier side that Hermès calls carnal, without tipping into heaviness. Launch press also mentions wood and aquatic notes, which account for the cool air of the whole.

About the original

Christine Nagel created Un Jardin sur la Lagune in 2019, her first fragrance in the Jardin series. Her inspiration was a secret walled garden in Venice created by an Englishman. The bottle is by Fred Rawyler and the box artwork by Safet Zec. Hermès lists it in its women's range, while launch press presented it as unisex.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Hermès stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

With magnolia and lily in the lead it is plainly floral, but the watery freshness keeps it light. Madonna lily is the note most likely to divide opinion, as it carries the richest side of the composition.
