Polo Red Intense, inspired by Ralph Lauren Polo Red Intense (2015)

Tart grapefruit and cranberry give a fruity start, but saffron, with its dry, almost leathery spice, shows up immediately beside them. Red ginger and roasted coffee shape the heart, with sage and lavender adding an herbal thread. Coffee here is bitter and toasted rather than sweet. Amber, cedar and leather make a dark, spicy base.

About the original

Olivier Gillotin created Polo Red Intense, launched in January 2015 as an Eau de Parfum flanker of Polo Red (2013). Like Polo Red, it took its theme from fast cars and racing, pushing the line towards a spicier oriental style. A search for it on Ralph Lauren's official fragrance site returns nothing, and at least one European retailer shows it as sold out. Review sites report it as discontinued, without any announcement from the brand. Polo Red Eau de Parfum (2020) and Polo Red Parfum (2022) are separate products, not renamed versions of it.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Ralph Lauren stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Within the Polo Red line, this is the denser, spicier option. Coffee and leather give it a darker edge, which may feel heavy to someone who mainly wears fresh scents.

It no longer appears on Ralph Lauren's official fragrance site and is widely described as discontinued, but the brand has made no announcement we could find.

Is Polo Red Intense the same as Polo Red Eau de Parfum?

No. Polo Red Eau de Parfum (2020) is a separate product. Polo Red Intense was the 2015 Eau de Parfum flanker with coffee, ginger and leather.

Does it smell of coffee?

Yes, roasted coffee is one of its heart notes, toasted and bitter rather than sweet.

Is Ralph Lauren Polo Red Intense coming back?

So far, we have found no announcement from Ralph Lauren that it will return. Our version is an eau de parfum in 50 ml or 100 ml.
