James Bond 007, inspired by James Bond 007 (2012)

The first thing you notice is apple, green and crisp rather than syrupy, paired with the cool spice of cardamom. Lavender and moss then build the fougère frame, and coumarin, the hay-like compound also found in tonka beans, adds a rounded, almond-tinged sweetness. Sandalwood and vetiver close it out, the vetiver giving a dry, rooty finish. Overall it reads woody and aromatic with a lightly spicy edge.

About the original

Eon Productions released James Bond 007 in October 2012, produced with Procter & Gamble, to mark fifty years of Bond films. A Gold limited edition appeared the same year. Flankers followed: Ocean Royale and Quantum in 2013, then Seven in 2015. No perfumer was credited at launch.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not James Bond 007 stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

Fans of the films will know the name, but the scent itself is a conventional, well-mannered fougère rather than anything theatrical. Apple and cardamom make the start approachable, and moss and vetiver give it a grown-up dryness. Buyers after a dense amber or a strong oud will want something else.

The first one, James Bond 007 from 2012 in the black bottle. It is not Ocean Royale, Quantum, Seven, 007 for Women or Floris No 007.

Is James Bond 007 still made?

We have not been able to confirm whether the original 2012 scent is still produced.

Is it sweet?

Only a little. Apple and coumarin add some sweetness, but lavender, moss and vetiver keep the overall feel dry and aromatic.
