The Scent, inspired by BOSS The Scent for men (2015)

The Scent starts with ginger, lifted by mandarin and bergamot. Its key ingredient is maninka, a South African fruit that launch press compared to passion fruit and rum, so the heart has a dark, slightly boozy fruitiness, set against lavender. Underneath sits leather with woody, ambery notes. Hugo Boss sums up the result as ambery-woody-fruity.

About the original

Hugo Boss released BOSS The Scent on 31 August 2015 as an Eau de Toilette, with actor Theo James in a campaign film directed by Darren Aronofsky. Maninka was presented as the defining ingredient. A women's counterpart and a run of flankers followed, including Intense, Absolute and Magnetic versions; this page is based on the original men's Eau de Toilette.

Our version

Ours is an independent eau de parfum made to evoke the same character. It is not Hugo Boss stock, not an official relaunch and not the original formula.

Who it suits

It sits between fresh and rich: ginger keeps the top lively while leather and dark fruit give it depth. A buyer after pure freshness may find the maninka heart too dense.
